Jefferson Island: The Spoonbill Babies

Standing at the forest's edge with the western sun setting behind me, I was thrilled to see the roseate spoonbill chicks being cared for by their doting parents. It is truly a marvel.

Ah, relief at last.

So nice that the parents take turns.

Enjoy your weekend! As usual I will take weekends off to play, shoot, and bird. See you on Monday!

Sharing with Saturday's Critters! Thank you, Eileen! Please visit other fun critters from around the world.

If it weren't for finding you and your wonderful pictures of wildlife, I would never have the chance to see these babies and all of the others you find. Thanks for your posted works.

So wonderful Gayle. Why are we in Alaska instead of LA...the babies are adorable. I showed this post to Bill, who isn't much into blogging, except to help me...he loved these pictures. Thanks so much.

How high are the nests? Is that an egret in that one photo? Fascinating captures.

How did you keep from jumping up and down when you found this nest?? Were you behind your camouflaged sitting place? Momma Spoonbill looks like she's swallowing her chicks when she feeds them! Amazing!! You have to be very proud of these!!
