Goldie

Sorry if you are sick of seeing the prothonotary warbler, but it's a bird that was on my wish list for over a year. This is the female, Goldie, after she'd been shown the same house (nesting station) twice by her mate. She decided she'd had enough of house hunting for the afternoon and took a break by getting a bite to eat and tending to her personal needs. Perhaps preparing for a clutch? We hope!
Antenna of crane fly protruding from her beak.

Such a beautiful colored bird.. I've never seen one around here! Love the yellow!!
I'm guessing by seeing the weather reports, that there will be no outdoor photography going on today. Looks like you all are going to get plenty of rain.
BTW...I always enjoy seeing ALL of your pics...no getting tired of them around here..

These photos are amazing, Gail. I won't ever get tired of seeing this bird. I think it is so great how you 'birders' can see the same bird over and over. I would just say, hmmmm, look at that bird. It wouldn't occur to me to think it was the same bird. lol But I don't bird watch like you do and you don't shop for thrift like I do, but we are still girl friends none the less. Yay!!!

Oh I love that bottom photo where she's preening her feathers! And I think it's funny that it took so long to swallow the fly. Those were long antenna!

She's a beauty, and your photos are exquisite. Hope she enjoyed her meal. Not exactly pizza, but to each his own. :)

In addition to your striking photos, your identifying your subjects, and even their choices of tasty insects, is what gives me birding, flower, and swamp nature hike experiences.
