Happy Sunday!

Two posts in one weekend. What has gotten into me? The equation is as follows:

Overwhelming number of photos + rainy day = blog post!

I am also suffering from a little disappointment, but this too shall pass. Sure wish I didn't bruise so easily, but nothing I've tried has changed that part of my personality. Being ultra-sensitive really sucks sometimes. Okay, I'm done whining. The sun is starting to come back and my redbud trees are bursting. They are begging to be photographed. Later gators!
Lake Pontchartrain and the Causeway Bridge, 3/8/13

Red-headed woodpecker, Fontainebleau State Park, 3/8/13

Yellow-bellied sapsucker, Fontainebleau State Park, 3/8/13

Eastern Bluebird, Fontainebleau State Park, 3/8/13
I had no idea they could rotate their heads like that!

I chased this little cutie all over the park entrance until he finally got enough of my nonsense and disappeared for good!

Turtle party, Blackwater Conservation, 3/6/13
I finally had some time to play with Jill's pretty little American Goldfinch. I'm not too good with textures and embellishments, but here is my submission. Check out She Who Carries Camera for Creative License Fridays! This should be a fun new meme and something different.

Just look at these images. You can be sooo proud of these. That little bluebird is adorable, and I really like the causeway bridge shot. I know the turtle is sunning itself, but it looks like it just came in for a landing!

What a great set of images, Gail. You really set the scene with the first image, and then wow us with some fabulous birds! Thank you for sharing.

I hope you quickly bounce back from your disappointment, whatever it might be!

I hadn't realized that you had submitted an edit, so I was surprised to see that cute little goldfinch at the end...I love the wooden sign effect and you did great with the texture! (You know, it doesn't have to involve textures). Anyhoo, onto your glorious photos...that bluebird looks like his head's on backwards and I just love that first shot...great composition, lines and contrast! The blue text really adds something as well!

Love that little red head sticking out; so cute as is the eastern bluebird.....All of your shots are just awesome.
I think you are selling yourself short on your "texturing" ability....I love the edit you did on the bird and the words that go along add so much....

(I understand the "sensitive thing" I am too.....

I always look forward to your posts, and you never disappoint. The red on both the woodpecker and the sapsucker is so deep and rich. The bluebird shots are all spectacular, but that "Rosemary's Baby" head rotation is especially nifty. Love the turtle party, too. Interesting poses there.

How lovely can one post be! Every bird is wonderful..and the framed picture of the goldfinch is incredible; amazing stuff you're doing with texture. I have no idea how you do that.

So beautiful. Love the Bluebirds. I love your edit of the Goldfinch too. I am so sensitive I can hurt my own feelings. How's that for being ultra-sensitive? Lol. And you're right it sucks. Have a wonderful week!

Your photos are great. I love eastern bluebirds and anxiously await their return to Ontario.

Gail, I am overly sensitive too and agree it will pass. But it's still no fun while it hurts so much. I wish you all the best!

Beautiful Gail!!! Each and every photo you've shared touched my senses perfectly this morning. This park must be magical and marvelous to see so much in one outing. Glad you posted these perfect photos.

PS...I too have a tendency to be easily bruised.

I continue to be amazed at the colors of the birds in Louisiana! And I LOVE that image of the red-headed woodpecker peering around the trunk of that tree. Again, these are such fabulous bird images --with a turtle, too--Gail!
