My Amazing Day (MAD)

Just thought I'd share a little about my day:

  • Woke up at 4 a.m. and could not go back to sleep; finally got up at 6:30.
  • Let the dogs out for their morning business. Sparky found something stinky in the yard and proceeded to rub it into his fur. He then came inside and headed straight for the sofa blanket, freshly washed from the night before, funkifying it forever.
  • Chance threw up on the good rug as I took my first sip of coffee. Twice. No warning.
  • The monument company called one HOUR before bringing my mom's headstone to the graveyard. So much for the one day notice. Hopped in the shower and got ready in record time; flew out to the cemetery.
  • Car started throwing error messages again. I pressed on.
  • Attorney called while errors flashed, asking a question about my deceased sister that I had no answer for. The whole time I'm thinking, 'how much is this call costing me?!'
  • Made it to the cemetery, showed the guys the grave, but first had a disagreement with my cousin (who is the church secretary) on placement of the headstone. Turns out I misunderstood, so I fussed at her for nothing. Bad Gail!
  • Retrieved camera gear out of the car because a dragonfly was eating an insect on a rusted fleur de lis cross, posing perfectly.
  • By the time I got the right lens on, tripod out, and camera mounted, the dragonfly was still there but he was done with his lunch.
  • I lost my car/house keys somewhere between the car, the dragonfly and mama's grave. Could not find them to save my life. Searching over an hour, I was drenched with humidity.
  • Double D to the rescue--a 30 minute drive for him. In the meantime, another distant cousin, Billy, had arrived and helped me look for the keys. Billy found them within 15 minutes, right by the fleur de lis cross, the same area I had scoured several times.
  • I now have a headache the size of Texas.
  • Got home to look at the photos I took of a colorful skink and the aforementioned dragonfly only to learn that my camera was set on ISO 800 the whole time.
  • Izzy is on my lap as I type this post, emitting the worst gas ever. If I could bottle this stuff, I think I could blow up Iran with one small container.
Taken with iPhone
I texted my friend and asked her if she could write me a country/western hit out of all this mess so we could make a million bucks. She said not to worry, that the cemetery/vomit/dog poop song just made the top 10 on Country Music Billboard.

I treated my cousin to lunch because I felt guilty for fussing at her. My lunch of bbq shrimp and grits was delicious! And guess what? Yep, I have heartburn. The one good thing from today? The headstone came out nice. So how was your day?

haha! Considering what I just read, I guess my day is going quite well. When it happens, it all seems to happen at once! Glad the headstone is taken care of, but doubtless you could have done without the rest. So other than the ISO, did your shots turn out good?

Isn't that how things usually go? Everything happens at once!

A day that will be certainly be remembered!!

I think they misspelled "beloved"...no no, just kidding.

Oh man your day sounds lousy. At least the keys were found. And your iPhone took a darn good picture; there will be more dragonflies, I'm sure of it.

Oh my goodness! What a day! A day like that calls for a long bath with a glass of wine!

Starting the day with dog vomit would have probably sent me right back to bed without having to contend with the rest of your day. Oh my, I am definitely not telling you about my day, since it was just a wee bit better than yours. But you did you get a huge task taken care of and the bbq shrimp sounds yummy, along with a bottle of TUMS. I am reaching out and giving you a big hug, now feel better?

i'm glad the headstone turned out well. of all those things, that's the only permanent one - the other stuff will pass, promise! :)

You certainly had a day and a half! I am afraid to tell you about my day – still feeling homesick after the end of the Tour de France I decided to read a mystery book about Venice, Italy and read half of the book. I read the news on the Web from the US, the UK and France, then looked at a couple of blogs and cooked. That is all – I feel a bit guilty about it all – but you had an eventful day, indeed.

I was feeling so bad for you until I read about Izzy's gas and I just busted out in laughter (sorry!)!

That was quite the day you had but the headstone is lovely. Hopefully, tomorrow will be MUCH better...

You poor Dear, Gail!
Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed! Your Mom's stone is lovely. I like the butterfly and single vase holder is very nice!

You are just too funny! Love how you express yourself and find humor in all that befalls you! Mama's headstone is a nice tribute to her and it looks perfectly placed!

So, I take it from this it was not one of your best days! ;)

Hope the gas wears off - although I think putting the dog in the garden shed could be an option.

I have no idea if you do such things, but if I was you I'd pour some wine!

Thanks for the visit and comment.

Don't you just love those days . . . when they're over? Hope you have a better one today. I thought I was following you, but I guess not. And, I already commented on this post once, but it's not here. I would like to blame technology, but I fear it is old-timerz.

This reminds me of Alexander and the no good, very bad day book. Read it many times to my boys. Live it often! hahha
I hope the rest of your week goes better!

Well Gail, if nothing else, it was a memorable one.
Don't know if it's the same for you, but I certainly felt better once my Mom's headstone was placed. It just seemed like an empty space without it.

I sure hope today was a better day for you.

And sorry for laughing at some of your day...

I feel your pain-
it looks like we have the same kinds of adventures.
We could be Lucy and Ethel!

On days like that sometimes it is best to go home and put on your gown.

Enjoyed visiting!

Gail, it helps that you're a little bid crazy keeps you sane. What I don't understand is that this was a Tuesday, but we won't mess with you on a Monday.

Oh Gail! I feel so rude for laughing at your terrible day -- but it's your own fault for writing so funny ....

I do hope your days get better soon, because I'm sure you could write funny about the good stuff too.

Yes your mother's headstone looks perfect.

Oh my, Gail, what a day! That would even fill a week!!! And I thought my days were bad, just because I had a migraine-like headache...
I love your humour so much, Gail!!

So sorry for your day -- I've had a few like that. That's when you ask about karma (or voodoo). But, if nothing else, you made me smile.
