Weekend in Review

Howdy y'all! This post should have gone up on Monday, but I'm having quite the time getting my rear in gear. These are some things I saw last weekend. Hope you enjoy!

Port Allen, LA⎯Friday, Nov 7th
"Friday Night Lights" with my friend, Bridget. We (she) drove across the river to Port Allen where we watched tugboats
and ships go by. B taught me a few tricks I didn't know and I think it has reignited my love for photography.
The State Capitol is on the left. I kept seven photos out of 103, so I might post a few more at a later date.
 Capitol Lakes⎯Saturday, Nov 8th
American Coot.
Out of 200+ shots, I kept this one and the one below. I have gotten very cut-throat on what I toss and what I keep.
A little fall color, finally.
 Madisonville, LA⎯Sunday, Nov 9th
Brown Pelican, Louisiana State Bird

I first shot this couple surreptitiously from the back. Ha! Then I got the nerve to ask permission.

They were so cool about me shooting them. The girl reminded me of my good friend, Jo, from high school.
The vocals and guitar work were really good.
 Mandeville, LA⎯Sunday, Nov 9th
Small beach on Lake Pontchartrain at Fountainebleau State Park.
Debbie from It's All About Purple inspired me to take some timed couple shots!
I hope to post again on Friday to get back into my Monday, Wednesday, Friday routine.

Thanks, Anni!

You know I love that shot of you and the DH, but all of these are super! I especially love the way you captured the coot.

The young(er) couple photos are really nice. The old(er) couple shot is my favorite, though. It gives me a feeling of warmth and amiable understanding.

I love all the photos and I'm jealous of the coot!

The trick with the lights of the boats looks awesome and I love the first capture of the couple taken from the back, you gave it a beautiful tint which even enhanced the nice composition.

Two shots out of 200+? You're very decisive! :)

These are fabulous, Gail. My favorite is the Coot as well, just awesome! My you are really warming up to that delete button, lol! I hope someday I'm good enough to be that picky :) Great shot of you and DH. I need to start taking some timed pics of my and my husband as well. We never have any pictures for the Christmas card! Have a blessed day!

Debbie has been a big inspiration to me too. The one of you two is adorable! Loved the other shots, great series of photos!

Another nice group of pictures...feels like I got to travel a bit! I have become extremely cut throat about photos...it is just way to easy to keep them and no one needs to see 15 shots of the same thing. (Ok, easier said than done(o; )

oohhhh Gail, you inspire me every single day with your die hard determination and gorgeous images!! It's so important to take 100 images of the same exact thing because I usually find that only one or two are really great. All of the images you shared are spectacular but you know my favorite was of you and dh!!

I'm just thrilled to be a small part of your inspiration. Welcome to the world of selfies, I think you will like it here. It's an awesome picture, you should frame it!!

Some beauties here. I love the fall colours and the pelican.. and of course, the selfie. :)

I've become very picky about which photos I keep, too. I usually take at least 200 and only publish 5 for each post.

Surely you threw out some great shots, so don't empty that trash can yet!
These are excellent, as always.

What a wonderful weekend. Beautiful photos, can I have the ones you throw away? Just kidding of course, but I know that the ones you delete would be better than the ones I use!!

It's almost the weekend again...and I'm just now commenting! I really like the idea of "cutthroat" selection of photos. I need to do more of it. This is such a great set of images, as always. That first one is unlike any I've seen of yours before!

Nice couples-shot at the end! I like seeing that. Plus, all of your other pics are wonderful. Isn't it cool how the brown pelican matches the post he is on?

As always Gail, stunning images. And great narrative.

Thanks for sharing the link this week at I'd Rather B Birdin'. I'm a bit behind visiting since I've been getting my new computer all set up and programs installed. I think I'm now able to catch up.

Great night shot of Port Allen. I've been through there many, many times and my husband's parents grew up and married there. The Brown Pelican and Coot shots are superb! Great idea about the couple shots...nice!

Loved the Baton Rouge and river at night and the water in the coot pix. The fall foliage shot is ethereal. Enjoyed the couple shots, too, including the timed shot. Kudos for cut-throat approach to the keep-toss challenge. My skills are few, but I still have trouble tossing ANY grandkid snapshots!
