Summertime Blues

The indigo bunting is a summer bird for Louisiana. On May 24th, I was thrilled to see one in the wild, no bird feeders in sight. This little guy was quite perturbed by my presence, flicking his tail, flapping his wings and giving me the stare-down. No, I wasn't playing his call on my phone, but once I realized he might be upset, I walked away. I'm sure he thought he won, but I felt like the winner. :)

He's a beauty, even though he was a little unhappy with you. I saw one fly across the road in front of me last Saturday. He landed in a tree full of leaves. Not even a bad photo op there. ;(

While I do believe that he was a bit disturbed by your camera.....I am thankful that he allowed you to capture these FABULOUS photos.... although each picture is so good, it's the action in #3 that caught my eye.. The blue coloring on this bird is so very pretty!!

Wow Gail. The 3rd one reminds me of a porcelain sculpture I saw once, or maybe an Audubon painting. Beautiful!

That bird is stunning. The blue reminds me a bit of the blue on out Kingfishers, but it looks nothing like a Kingfisher of course. From Findlay

Wow, what an impressive birdie!

That indigo bunting could have been the heraldic bird of the company I work for. Our dominant color is a dark blue as well...
