Golden

These are images of the American goldfinch seen on Jan, 9 at Bluebonnet Swamp. They were wearing their drab winter colors, but now are starting to show more color. By the time they are decked out, they will be leaving us to go farther north to breed. Hope to get some photos with the brighter yellow feathers soon.

I certainly enjoyed working from home the prior two weeks and catching up with some of my favorite customers, but I'm really glad to have my days to myself again. If the weather would only cooperate so I can get out with my camera.

Happy Friday!!

What a beautiful little bird!

When we were actively cycling about a decade ago, we'd go along this one road where goldfinches seemed to thrive. I loved their kind of loopy flight paths.

These goldfinch images are gorgeous! When we see them, they're all dressed up in their brightest yellow; but they are so difficult to photograph, with all their flitting around. You've managed some incredible captures here.

Ohhhhh, lovely close-ups Gail! We have Goldfinches here year round. I like the soft winter colours of their plumage.

They shimmer and sparkle in the sunshine :) Beautiful pictures and precious birds. Happy weekend, friend!

love your little sweeties. we still have a gang of them eating thistle seed here, too. guess the colder temps have kept them south longer this year than i remember.

Beautiful birds. God's the original artist (graphic and fine art), isn't she? And nobody captures birds better that you!

Have a wonderful weekend. I will, once this snow we got overnight melts!

Working from home is such a blessing. Winter doesn't seem to want to leave most of the country... Hoping it does for you soon. Love the photos as always :)

Love your photos Gail, such great close-ups. I also love to see them in their bright yellow plumage but oh my, it's still a real pretty bird. Have a great weekend and hope the weather co-operates for you :)

Cute little Goldfinches. Once they return north is when I get to enjoy them. :)

Wonderful captures. Ours are still in drab mode. It's still far to cold for them to be dressing in bright colours. Yours are lovely to see.

Nice pictures - I managed to get some decent images of birds from the US during my busy time! All I need to do now is recover from the jet lag and get organised! (That may take some time!)

I wonder if some goldfinch spend the whole winter in Oregon -- I've certainly seen them in these drabber colors as well as bright yellow. Hmm., I should know this but I don't.

Wow! They're getting the yellow back!

Thanks for the encouragement and uplifting faith in what will happy for me. I LOVE HEARING things like that!!!!!

I am SO jealous that you can find a Goldfinch holding still!

We only see them during migration and the only ones I find are always on the move - away from ME!

Very nice photographs, Gail!

My IL's have a little fountain in their backyard that the finches love to take showers in! Guess one of these days I need to park my rear and try to get some photos!

I need sunshine!! I agree....if only the weather would permit me to get outside with my camera, I could sure be a lot happier...Maybe it will this coming week...

Stunning is the American goldfinch. With us he is a different color, but this is really wonderful to see. In addition, your photos beautifully clear and sharp :-)

I love to see the goldfinch as they change to their summer colors, up here in the north, such a wonderful sign of spring.

Those are lovely portraits of the A. goldfinch, Gail. I like the last photo most of all, with the beak partly open. :)

I have to say, I really like these colors. There's almost a hint of robins egg blue in the coat and it's such a subtle and soothing combination with the brown.

Snap-tastic!

Colours can be so uplifting.
