As always, I appreciate your kind comments and cherish the relationships I've made from blogging. It has truly been a wonderful experience, for the most part. At this time, I shall be taking an extended, if not permanent break from blogging. If interested you can always find regular rantings on Twitter. My warmest and best to you all! God bless.

Hiatus
Last Saturday on our way home from another failed hiking expedition, Double D and I noticed a sign for Global Wildlife Center in Folsom, Louisiana. Intrigued, and hoping to salvage what was left of the day, we decided to explore. As we got closer we started seeing deer of all types, hundreds of them, on acres and acres of green pastures. Then hubby pointed to a zebra. I was all, "What the what?!" Turning into the gates there were kangaroos and ostriches. My eyes widened to the size of Jupiter! All the wildlife calmly grazed, paying no attention to our vehicle. We arrived too late to take a tour, but we got to drive through the front section of the park, and these are the photos I was able to take from the car window. Autumn, I wish I had brought along the Apex Bean Bag you gave me!

Nice photos. I just found your blog and like what I was seeing. Too bad you areclosing it down. Too bad for me that is.
Such a lucky find. They're all so beautiful. I hope your break is just temporary and not permanent. I only found you a short while ago but I do love visiting and seeing your wonderful photos. Take care.
Awwwwwwww, Gail....you WILL BE missed. I was saddened to read the last paragraph!
Take life easy, enjoy your finest days and make good of the bad days if you can find a way.
I truly will miss you dearly.
Oh Gail I do hope everything is alright I think your photography is so beautiful you have such a talent.
I will hope you will return after a break I know I am going to miss you. I understand the commitment it takes to blog and sometimes we all have to step back and see what in our world we are missing by sitting in front of the computer. I do hope that is all it is for you.
HUGS lots of hugs. Keep photographing you are going to be big someday I just know it. More hugs. Gail. B
Prayers to you as you take some time away from blogging, you know you will be missed!
See, GOD knew just where to send you and that was to capture some of His awesome creations. Look at those sweet faces and perfect for kisses especially the sweet newborn.
GOD keep you and richly bless you with His peace.
Great images, Gail. I particularly like the close up that is so detailed.
Where will I be able to see your images? It would be a shame not to continue to share your wonderful talent.
I've lost my PW to Twitter. No smart phone, so I go online to view...or I did! Maybe I'll figure out how to get another one, as I'd hate to lose you!
Spectacular images, as always, Gail. I especially loved that wobbly-legged fawn.
It truly grieves me to think our short friendship could already be coming to an end. I pray that your hiatus will be a short one, although I do understand how easy it is to spend more time than we know we should at our computers. It's something I struggle with, too. Enjoy your time away from the blog, but don't give up on your photography! Blessings, my friend.
i love your surprise finds. the exotics are so sweet!
as for your break, my dear gail, i will miss you - your visits, your posts, your sense of humor, your once-in-a-blue-moon rants, your sensitivity and humanness, and most of all, your gorgeous photography and love of nature and discovery. you have blessed me just by being here.
Beautiful shots Gail.
I will surely miss you, and your wonderful photos. I hope all is well with you.
A lucky find, indeed. Such beautiful shots of sweet babies. Best of thoughts and prayers from me to you. I will miss your wonderful posts and your comments and hope to see you back again if it is what you need. Take care.
awe...such beautiful creatures and that newborn...don't you just want to snuggle it in hugs & kisses? As for your last paragraph, I literally had to pick my jaw up off the floor after reading that you are going away...maybe permanently. Oh Gail, please say it isn't so...You will be missed my friend...guess I'm really gonna have to drive out for that Photo date now huh...Big hugs from down the road...xoxo
You're going on hiatus....maybe permanently?? That's such disappointing news to me! The deer photos look as if you were just a few feet from them....fabulous, Gail.
Oh Gail it was lovely to have found you recently, I love your photos.
I do hope you will return after your hiatus.
Hugs and best wishes,
Willow
WHAT!!!! That can't be!! Oh, BTW....these captures are brilliant!
I am sorry to hear that you may not be back. Are you on Facebook? This is another way to connect and share some pictures. Your skills should not remain hidden.I love the pictures you show.
Gail, I know you must have good reasons to take a break. I send positive thoughts and wish you the best. Your photography is outstanding, award winning, even. All of the shots in this post are incredible - I could count the hairs on that last photo... bye for now...
Love all the whiskers and eyelashes... and NO! I don't want you to go on a hiatus. I'm sure you need it, but you will be terribly missed. I don't do twitter, but perhaps I should.
What a special treat you had! Wonderful pictures of such sweet creatures.
Giving up blogging? Well I have pretty much, but you? What did it?
BTW, I loved The Misremembered Man! Sad and funny. It reminded me that a smile can really make a person's day.
Hugs,
charlotte
Forgot to say that I will miss you! I guess I was just so shocked to hear that you will be gone.
I wish I had known about this place when my daughter was living in Baton Rouge. She now lives in northern Louisiana, and I don't know when I will be back to south Louisiana

I don't get on Twitter much, but I guess I'll have to make a point to from now on, until you come back here. Love these shots, especially the baby, and I've already hit the link for the Apex Beanbag.

Gail -- I will miss your beautiful posts and lovely comments sooo much! I understand that times and interests change though. I hope your pause is for a good reason and you've found another place for your talents to shine. I've so enjoyed getting to know you. Thanks for what you shared and best of luck in whatever you do.
Great captures! Even the eyelashes are visible!
Gail, even if you do not return to blogging, you must continue with your photography. I've always been in awe of your talent and you need to share it in some fashion. Take care. xo
Love the second photo of the fawn! Fantastic shots!
I hate to hear you may not continue with your blog. You're an inspirational photographer and I hope you'll show your work somewhere! You'll be missed!
Me, too.

you're leaving.
I'll miss you.
May God bless you richly.

Oh No.. I will miss you so much. I do hope all is OK. I just love seeing your photos. But I totally understand. Blogging takes up a lot of time. I don't have a twitter account. I might just have to start one. Best wish for you my friend.
And Big Hugs...
WAIT!! WHAAATTT???
(sniff, sniff. Now TWO of my favorite bloggers are leaving me)
Ok...seriously, I am the LAST person to begrudge a fellow blogger a break!! But I really do hope it is only a break!! I always visit your blog when I need peace and calm for a few moments.
Enjoy your break (just ignore my wailing and nashing of teeth, hehe!!)Enjoy your camera. Enjoy....
It makes me sad too - because you are an artist and friend - so it must be for a good reason - good luck and best wishes. sandie
So sad since I'm coming back to blogging. But I will follow you on Twitter. That last photo is beautiful. Hope all is well with you and your family :) Kelly
Oh my - these shots are incredible! So beautiful!
I do hope you will return after a well-deserved break. Your shots are so beautiful!
Oh no Gail!! Please tell me this isn't permanent :( I am heading over to Twitter now to follow you!
Well, this is definitely a shock. I am really sorry to hear that you might not be back to share your wonderful photography and your humor and your depth of feelings with us. I am truly hoping this is only temporary and you will miss us as much as we will miss you and will return. God bless you, Gail. Big hugs!!
Oh Gail I hope everything is OK. You will be greatly missed. I do hope you will return.
What? what? oh no, what? dang. I miss you for a few days and you disappeared. I'm following you over at twitter then. Why are you stopping? What happened? Did I say or do something to cause this decision? write to me, k? renae(at)simplesequins(dot)com. I need to have my fix!!!!!!!!
Amazing pictures of the deers. Some of them are so cute.
Although only arriving at your site recently, I have learned so much from you regarding photography. And you have inspired me to the point of considering swiping my husband's camera (with all the bells and whistles) to learn some of the techniques that you utilize in your art.
While I understand the need for respite, like many others, I hope it does not take you away from us forever. Do take the time that you need; it is the most un-selfish gift that you give others; a rested, peaceful self allows sharing the same with all.
Love and admiration, bj
Gail, in my own quasi blog break I haven't been reading other blogs much. I just now got to this post and a sorry to see you may be taking a permanent break. Hopefully after some renewal you will be back. I am following you now on Twitter though, and as always feel free to email anytime. I want to keep in touch!
I hope it is not permanent. I would really miss your posts and photos.
Love the baby deer.
Not thats not a bad way to bow out! Nice post. If you want to see things from Australia, your know where I am!
Hope you enjoy being blog free!
Tolle Fotos
WOW! Where the heck are you going! You are the foundation of blogging and a standard to reach! i will truly miss you! Thanks for all your recent support during my trip! Your photos are wonderful here! Such sweet faces!
Ohhh Gail!! As you know I've also been on a little break. But just read your post and hope that you don't shut down permanently!! I'll miss you!! I hope that you'll post maybe once a month and show your favorite shots!! I ALWAYS so enjoy your art. Like those deer. They are beautiful!! You have a wonderful talent of being able to tell a story with your pictures. They are National Geographic quality. You could easily make money by going around to the places you visit and make photo spreads for them. God Bless you Gail. Hope you visit again.
I wish you the very best, Gail.
You will be missed.
Wonderful deer photos! Enjoy your blogcation.
Oh beautiful Gail. I do hope it's a short lived hiatus. You will be sorely missed. Hugs to you. I hope all is well with you.
Your photos.. particularly that last one are amazing.
Be well.
Oh how precious! Your photos are exquisite!
Love and hugs.
I'm on a break too. Your photo's are so inspiring to me, and I think you are a darling person! Enjoy your break!
I am coming back and you are leaving...I do hope it's only for a short while as I will miss you and your insightful comments as well as your gorgeous photography....
You are such a sweet friend and I pray God will bless you abundantly.....Hugs, Nancy
Nooo, Gail...!!! Well, looking at my sparse blogging I can absolutely understand that you want to take a break from blogging; there are only so many hours in a day... But please know that I'll miss you and your wonderful photos dearly, Gail! I've always loved reading your posts, they often made my day just by making me smile :-) So, quite egoistically, I hope that this hiatus is not a permanent one. Unfortunately, I'm not on Twitter, so I can't follow you. I wish you all the best, Gail, take care! And thanks so much for having being here, for having shared your view of the world, for being such a wonderful friend! I'll miss you!
Dear Gail,
These images are staggeringly beautiful! I am stunned by the clarity of the photos and also the character of the animals that you captured. Truly wonderful!
I am sorry to see you taking a break but I do understand. My blogging has been limited this year and challenging to keep up with.
I wish you all the very best and hope that we stay in touch.
love,
G
Just checking back, Gail. I know your friends on Twitter are as enthralled with your photographic journey through life as much as I did. Godspeed.
What a beautiful group of photos! There's a mother deer and her two little babies that like to travel through my parents' property...they're so fun to watch.
I've been quite a sporadic blogger lately myself, so I certainly understand your need to take a break. I do hope that it's a temporary one though :) xo
Your photos are gorgeous!
