Meet my new friend

Introducing: the Yellow-rumped Warbler!! Once I figured out what type of bird this was, I played their song on my iphone to lure them out. Thankfully, they are very gullible. There are two types of Yellow-rumped Warblers: Myrtle and Audubon. These are Myrtles due to the white patch on the throat; Audubons have a yellow patch on the throat. There are several nouns for a group of warblers: "bouquet" (my favorite), "confusion", "fall", and "wrench".

Bertha* and I are still at odds, though I no longer loathe her. Not loving her, but hopefully we will be friends soon. The first three shots were taken hand-held. Maybe Bertha likes to be held. Just what I need, a diva camera.

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulders, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

*Bertha is my 2 month old Canon 5D Mark II.

What a beautiful bird! And Bertha did very nicely on these shots. I enjoyed the addition of the red bow accompanying your Christmas greeting. Merry Christmas to you, too, my blogging friend.

Beautiful pictures!! But surely they are not merely called pictures - as they are works of art!! Photos?? What noun indicates something more than a snapshot?? My husband majored in journalism from Ohio and he said-- "Silver Image" That one photographer speaking to another photographer would refer to the "photo image."
Love the last photo!!
Merry Christmas Gail!

That is a yellow-rumped cutie. The photos are great. Surely, you and Bertha will become better friends as time goes by. There is always an adjustment period. Merry, merry Christmas to you and yours. Including Bertha.

Very clever the way you attracted your birds for your photos! Such a shame Bertha isn't more friendly....are her "cousins" equally as temperamental or are these issues specific to Bertha alone?

Trust you're having a wonderful Christmas Gail, we had a wonderful (but busy) one here juggling both sides of the family.

Wonderful shots! I was blessed with a new lens for birthday/Christmas and understand the love/hate emotions of starting on a new lens relationship! I think you and Bertha are doing better than I and my (unnamed) lens at this point!
Merry Christmas to you and BEST Wishes for the New Year!!

Of those names yellow-rumped might be very descriptive but Myrtle Warbler seems to fit the bill with that last very inventive picture. Funny but I always think of a camera as masculine, maybe if Bertha was a Bob or a Bill it would start behaving better and do as it was told? Happy belated Christmas and best wishes for 2013.

Your relationship with Bertha may be slow to ignite but I suspect a torrid love affair before too long. ;) Love the little red bow. I hope that you and yours had a lovely Christmas.
