Delightful!

The visit with my son and his girlfriend went beyond our expectations. And to think Isaac almost kept them away! We crammed so much into three days that now I am completely exhausted, yet feeling immense satisfaction at all we were able to do. We enjoyed wonderful food, toured the LSU campus, visited my mother's grave, saw most of the family, had a big BBQ, drove to Magnolia, MS to see my dad and his wife, and ended with a trip to the French Quarter. Whew doggies! I was so busy trying to go and do and please my special guests, that photography wasn't high on my list of priorities. I just wanted to ENJOY them. And I am happy to report that I DID!

My loves. At Pat O'Brien's enjoying the right kind of hurricane. :)
Do they look happy or what?
St. Louis Cathedral
As debauchery played out on Bourbon St. I looked down one of the side streets and
couldn't help noticing the huge shadow of Jesus at the rear of the Cathedral.
Right after that I slyly snapped a picture of "Gay-briel the Gay-ngel" who offered $1
to pose for photos. I wonder how many drunk or confused souls look up, see the welcoming
arms of Jesus and freak out?
We ended our night dining in the courtyard of this historical and wonderful place.
We had Chicken Oscar with lump crabmeat, shrimp and grits, BBQ shrimp and a pecan pie that
was out of this world.  If you're ever in New Orleans I'd highly recommend this place.

I was in New Orleans once....in 1969, on the way back to Oregon from SE Ohio. I really wanted to see the Gay-ngel! (Your son and his girlfriend are cute and very photogenic!)

Your middle picture and comments really made me laugh Gail. Sat here before breakfast and going birding reading your last paragraph made me sooo hungry - hope you saved a plate for me.

Sounds like you had a great time!

I have to ask - what exactly are 'grits' - and don't think they are small pieces of stone!

Cheers - Stewart M

PS: thanks for the visit to WBW

Your son & girlfriend look so happy to be enjoying hurricanes in comfort. I am jealous. I love New Orleans, even tacky Bourbon Street. The music, the food...sigh.

Sounds like a great weekend! The kids are some good lookin' ones. And, oh, yes, those hurricanes . . . been there done that. I've eaten at the Two Sisters. A poor kid working there barely brushed my shoulder with a chair he was carrying and people came out of the woodwork with "concern". Concern over getting sued. But, they didn't offer to take care or our bill. I figured that the kid got fired, poor thing.

There's a church at the end of Bourbon St? And there's someone that goes by that walking the street & charges for pics? WoW
