Son of a gun, we’ll have big fun on the bayou!!

I was so excited to introduce Double D to the famous Crawfish Festival last weekend, held every year in Breaux Bridge, LA. The temps were in the upper 80s, but the 96% humidity is what did me in. Cher bébé! (Shah bah-bay) as they say there. Cajun bands played all day, with a huge area designated for dancing. After about an hour I began to melt just walking around, so I don't know how some of those folks danced their arses off most of the afternoon.

I went straight to the crawfish pie and boudin balls booth. The boudin balls weren't spicy, but the crawfish pie should have come with a warning label. I'm still enduring...er...effects...from it, shall we say...

How in tarnation did this woman survive her booth all weekend in those garments? Just looking at her gave me heat stroke!

Double D & I rode the ferris wheel and it was fun. I was so grateful for the dark cloud that showed up momentarily.
Finally, after hours of dancing, this crawdad couple took a breather. If she's wearing pantyhose, she deserves some kind of award.
Had to shoot this through the car window. Just love the fleur de lis on the street signs.

Double D talked me into buying this hat while there. He thought it would help with the sun bearing down relentlessly on top of my head. It only made me hotter and then I had "hat hair" so I was stuck. :/ He also encouraged me to buy the sunglasses because of the red fleurs on each side. Notice my fleur earrings also--those I already had. Yeah, I kinda went overboard on the fleur de lis.

We only lasted 3 hours at the festival, but afterwards drove to Cypress Island about 10 miles from Breaux Bridge. While there I spotted my first alligator out in the wild. A 10 footer!!! I also spotted my first tri-colored heron. Can't wait to share my pics later in the week.

lovin' this look into the food and culture and celebration. you can keep the heartburn, though. love that woman's dreadlocks! i'm guessing you're going to have to acclimate to the humidity (and spicy food) all over again! :)

Must have been hot in the sun with humidity like that! You certainly have some colourful folks and traditions over there. You looks amazingly young in your new headgear, like a 20 year old - your skin is amazing.

Double D fixed you up...you look adorable in that cute hat and those sunshades...Wish I had been there!
I'm not crazy about the heat, but I love all the fun things going on..
We were there in Beaux Bridge around this time last year, but I guess we were too early or too late for the festival.
Can't wait to see the pictures of your alligator..by the way, would you believe that one of our local residents caught a four feet alligator this past week, ...The area that he caught it in, is only about a mile and a half from where we live..too close for me!
Enjoy the rest of your week..hugs!

I am right there with you with the heat and humidity. The festival sounds so fun, they should have it in cool weather, or maybe they can't for some reason.

We visited the USS Alabama, in Mobile, Alabama Port. Most of the battleship was NOT air conditioned. In a closed in space, we were boiling.

Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see your pics.

What fun that looks! Love those purple clothes, but they must be hot.

The festival looks like fun, but I don't think I could stand the heat. Lots to see and do (eat) there.

Sounds like a fun day. I love Cajun music! I love summer, but I'm not ready for the heat and humidity just yet. It's been record temps here also.

You are just too cute in your outfit!!
I'd melt for sure in the heat and humidity!! I don't do well with the "dry" desert heat, add some moisture and I'd be a gonner!!

that festival seems to be a feast not only for the stomach but also on the eyes! I can not tolerate heat, so for you to last 3 hours, you deserve a medal! Looking forward to seeing that try-colored heron...I'm sure it was spectacular!

Heat intolerance gets worse the older you get! But you do look cute in your hat and glasses. Speaking of fleur de lis, whenever I see those you come to mind!

Wow! What a treat for the eyes and the tummy (except for the dyspepsia afterwards). Too bad it was so hot -- but you got a cool pair of glasses and a hat out of the deal. :)

Looks like loads of fun. I love the sign that says, "don't eat it Bayou-self." Love your stylish selfie, too!

WoWoWeee! I can't take the heat, so I stay my butt outa the kitchen, so to speak! LoL! I wouldn't last long any further south than where I am right now... my brother has asked me to move to Texas (Dallas area) near him & I just can't take that horrible heat... =0
