Tessa Mae

My sweet friend's 13 year old Great Dane, Tessa Mae, passed away on Friday. Tessa was a special, beautiful, sweet girl, living much longer than the average Dane.  I think her longevity is a testament to how very much she was loved and cared for by her family. This is the slideshow my friend created to celebrate Tessa's life, which she gave me permission to share here. Rest in peace, beautiful girl.

Awww I'm sorry for your friend's loss. This gentle giant sure lived a loved life.. and beyond the years that most of this breed have.

I am so sorry Gail. I know how this feels, and unfortunately, I think I am going to experience it again soon with my little 15-year-old toy poodle Bert. They become such a part of your life, and there is an enormous empty space when they are gone.

My heart and condolences go out to your friend for her loss. I couldn't watch the video though, I'm at work and I know I would be bawling by the end of it.

What a beautiful dog - and such a sweet tribute. For a dog that large to live that long is amazing - obviously she was loved and well cared for. Sweet thoughts sent to your friend!

Oh, Gail...I'm so sorry!! I hope you're doing okay. How we get so close to our pets..it's scary! My mom's visiting now so I haven't been on the internet much. I'm glad I saw this.

What a beautiful tribute to Tessa Mae! The song and photos were perfect.
I used to hang out at dog shows years ago, learning about different breeds. The Great Dane is such a gentle dog who loves his people. They usually die around 7 years old because of a big heart. So sad.

Such a wonderful tribute to a glorious, sweet friend. She was so beautiful...the picture of her leaping over the hurdles is amazing. I know that this breed is rather short-lived so as you said you were lucky to have her with you so long. It is so hard to loose a beloved pet.
