Saturday

It was a beautiful weekend in the Red Stick! Most of it was spent outdoors, soaking it all in. I hope all of you are seeing signs of spring, and enjoying some milder weather.

Becoming a member of the Louisiana Photographic Society was one of the best decisions I've made this year. For example, Saturday from 9AM to 12PM, we were offered a free photography session with a well-known and respected photographer from our area, Aaron Hogan. His classes usually run about $300, so obviously this was a bargan. The response was so huge, they moved it from the library to the Journalism building on the LSU campus. Although a beginner photography class, it was a great refresher, and has me back on manual shooting, moving more of my dials to get what I want from an image.

Afterwards, sweet B and I attended the Spring Garden Show/Chili Cookoff.
Oxalis outside the grounds.

Little boy rinsing off bags of crawfish.

Bromeliads

Alpaca

Look at that grill!

I loved this arrangement of hibiscus. The vase isn't too shabby either. :)

On the way home, Double D called and said he'd just finished brewing BEER(!) with my cousin, and to come over for a cookout. Boy, I was whipped, but I really wanted to see my husband and favorite cousin. Finally got home after 8PM and had no trouble sleeping. Stayed tuned for my Sunday adventure!

I don't have any bird pics for Anni's meme, but I do hope she is on the mend. Blog visits to resume this afternoon to see what y'all have been up to!

I can not possibly imagine how your photography skills could get any better. Glad you had this great opportunity though. Brewing his own beer? I'm amazed at all of these talents that run in your family...awesome!

Terrific captures. I couldn't understand the composition of bromeliads. Are they real plants?

Such beautiful photos, Gail. The Alpaca's are pretty- I sorta look like the third one after a long day of yard work. The flowers and floral arrangement are gorgeous! Here's wishing you a wonderful rest of the week :)

Oh gosh what a nice day; the flowers are amazing and that one alpaca (the last one) is simply too adorable to be true!

The shot of the Bromeliads is fabulous. Are they shells? Bromeliads around here are plants and look very different.

At first sight I saw jellyfish and then read they were bromeliads, they got me! :)

The photography session sounds having been interesting, good to brush up the forgotten basics from time to time...

I love the Alpacas, they are so nice!

What a fun day! The Oxalis leaves resemble little shamrocks, don't you think ? The bromeliads made me think of jellyfish, too - love it! Can't wait to see what you did Sunday!

Such great pics AND I think I need a Bromeliad in my kitchen window!

I've been meaning to join a group like that. Sounds fun. I didn't know alpacas had such sweet faces! (We're getting an early spring here, very happy!)

Each shot is a wonder - you have great compositions and clarity. I have those Bromeliads with the same holders. I never thought of turning them upside down. They look like jellyfish or sea urchins!

Wonderful shots....no spring here yet only winter...hoping it will come in a couple of weeks.

Holy cow, what a bargain and opportunity! I'm going to see if there's anything like that in my area. I need to get back to the basics, myself. I love that hibiscus arrangement! (And the vase!)

Oxalis already? It's been a long cold winter here in East Texas. Our redbuds just bloomed this week (about three weeks late!) and the bluebonnets are still gaining strength but no blossoms yet.

LOVE your photos! Especially the first three. I would say your photography classes have really payed off, except to my untrained eye, your photography has been wonderful ever since I found your blog! I guess the change from wonderful to more wonderful is hard to discern.

That class sounds like a lot of fun. great photos my friend.

You'll soon be teaching that photography class!

Superb images, Gail!

Since there were no birds to concentrate on, I consoled myself imagining that bag of crawdaddies swimming in a vat of that beer --

Life is good!

Very cool to be able to get that free photography session but you always have such perfectly beautiful images that I suspect you could teach him a thing or two.

Alpaca eyes are dreamy!
