Cute little bee with emerald eyes. |
Armor in place and ready for battle! |
I believe this is a whitefly, which is very destructive to plants. |
Sweet little face with an ink dot for an eye. |
After downloading, I noticed that this unidentified insect was apparently rubbing his antennae together quickly which caused the blur/feather/prism. |
Weird and wild! |
Eating his way to the other side. Um...that won't work. lol |
Wasp on a fence. Is this stretching the Good Fences qualification? Sorry, my material is thin this week. :/ |

spectacular macros of the insects; my favourite is the second last Gail..
ReplyDeleteLove these close-ups! That second-to-last pic looks kinda like an aphid!
ReplyDeleteYou did come up with some strange insects. If this wasn't a work day, I would drag out my insect book. As it is, I will merely admire your handiwork.
ReplyDeleteawesome, i am curious how you get the bugs to stay? lucky you!! ( :
ReplyDeleteOne of the first mantras I taught my little ones..."All life is precious"
ReplyDeleteThese photos prove it.
Gorgeous.
Glad I don't have to pick a favorite.
All that walks and crawls, except dragonflies! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful creatures all, though, beautifully captured.
You've taken this creepy crawlies from mundane to works of art!
ReplyDeleteGail, dear Gail, you have taken pictures of bugs. . .bugs that I would normally step on or swat and you have made them unique and in a way, beautiful. You got us up-close-and-personal and had me intrigued the whole time :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your gift with us. Enjoy your day! Hugs to you
What a great macro shots, Gail.
ReplyDeleteAll prefect sharp, my compliments.
Creepy crawlies = willies!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos to be sure.
i like how you slipped in a fence! :D
ReplyDeleteloved all your creepy crawlies and flyies. don't know most of what they are, either!
This time your birds look different, Gail... ;-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful macros of your Louisiana insects...!
Uwe.
These are amazing close up images. Glad you didn't give up and go home when the dragonflies failed to cooperate!
ReplyDeleteThese insects must be local. Except for the wasp, I recognize no one.
ReplyDeleteAstonishing photographs!
ReplyDeleteWow! Wonderful insect photos! I have no idea what they are, except "interesting." :-)
ReplyDeleteYour bug macros are every bit as fabulous as your bird images, Gail! Amazing what strange creatures there are!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Gail, and even though I thought I knew my bugs, I can't identify most of these either. If you want shots of dragonflies, you should come to my house...I have dozens of them hanging out in my garden everyday for the past week or so...and I've only taken hundred and hundreds of photos! They are all the same kind but I've been beside myself with glee, lol. I posted one yesterday on the blog and in my post at FOL.
ReplyDeleteYou even make bugs look great!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Karen, you can make bugs look amazing.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteI admire it's beautiful!
Wonderful closeups of the insects... The white fly is neat looking.. Great post.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous detail! I'm not much good at identifying insects.
ReplyDeleteOh my bug-fantastic photos! What great finds, in such beautiful detail. Funny how they can be so pretty and like the whitefly, naughty and destructive too!
ReplyDeleteYou get the most interesting bugs down there!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning from Japan, Gail;

ReplyDeleteGreetings
Good Morning!:) Sorry don't know the names of these tiny insects, but your macros are wonderful. The second and penultimate images are stunning.Catching the leaf tip seconds before it fell was a lucky find, and fun caption.:)
ReplyDeleteI'm not good with identification, but you got some really cool shots! I love bug macro.

ReplyDeleteYOU make bugs look good!! I cant ID any but the wasp... and see... its eating wood too.
ReplyDeleteHOPE you have a blessed coming weekend.
WOW! Your arboretum has some wonderful wildlife. Better than a zoo, methinks!
ReplyDeleteAmazing critters!
ReplyDeleteI have a passion about all of God's creatures. These, too, are magnificent! Nature at its best. Thanks!
ReplyDelete(thanks, dearie!)
ReplyDeleteI had to come back for a second look. These are fabulous, Gail! I love bugs {as long as they stay outside, lol!} Amazing, isn't it, that God would take such care and create such intricate detail on something so small and seemingly insignificant! How great He is!
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing photos. I have no idea the names of most of them.
ReplyDeletewow, amazing shots!!
ReplyDeleteDragonflies in their early days can be elusive. I'm glad these guys were not though.. wonderful macros.
ReplyDeleteIf you say it's a fence, then it's a fence!! Beautiful bugs!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh you've got some amazing insect shots here. I loved all of them. The one with the chewed leaf made me chuckle. Neat wasp shot too.
ReplyDeleteYes, there are a couple here that give me the heebies!

ReplyDeleteOh crap! She does fabulous macros too. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteAmazing shots! (Although that wasp creeps me out...)
ReplyDeleteHI Fantastic close up shots of these insects.
ReplyDeleteInsects offer a whole new world to discover! I'm just now starting to explore that world a little bit. When the birds don't get in the way. :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice series, Gail!
I love the pics Gail--even if they are buggie. I think the dragonflies all fled to NC with us to hang by the pool on our vacation. I am sure they will cooperate with you next time.
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic snapshots of the macros.
ReplyDeleteAlways amazing shots Gail! You are correct - the whitefly is bad!! I squish them every chance I get, but this one is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the "weird and wild" one!! His colors and it's aerodynamic!! Neat!
hahah ... yup.... bit of a stretch...but, lots to enjoy all the same...
ReplyDeleteHi Gail, just stopping back to say thanks for linking up and sharing your post this week, have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteWow- that's a lot of bugs! Very cool- except for the wasp which is a bug I am afraid of!
ReplyDeleteAwesome shots of all the interesting little creepy crawlies!

These are crazy! my favorite, if you could possibly pick one? The Weird and wild one!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the way it works? They know one is coming and do not cooperate.
ReplyDeleteGreat macro shots Gail and I think the wasp on the fence was perfect for last weeks good fences.
ReplyDeleteWell ... if that's what happens when your plans don't work out we are all the luckier for it! Amazing lovely macros. That one with the pen dot for an eye is so cute, it's like a little girl drew a sweet picture of a bug!!
ReplyDeleteThese bugs, critters, insects and thems are all so fascinating. I love how detailed you can get with your super macro!!!! I don't know much on how photography works but you for sure are the best, I know. I love those 'refresh' cloths. Thank you!!!!! They are awesome. I haven't seen them around here. ♥
ReplyDeleteKlasse Bilder sehr schöne Schärfe.
ReplyDeleteGruß
Noke
