Happy Monday!

Independence Park in Baton Rouge has been my "go-to" place this summer for flowers and insects. I know you're rolling your eyes and saying "Not another macro post!" Well, I suffered to get these shots, so I'm sharing. How did I suffer, you ask? With temperatures in the mid-90s (fahrenheit) and a "feels like" temp of 100+, let's just say it brought back nightmarish memories of summers in Texas. I went out with my camera every other day, staying about an hour at a time because one day I over-stayed and almost fainted. I'm brown as a raisin, though!

Hope everyone has a fabulous week!

  1. Beautiful!!! Yep, I know about those Texas summers...but, I'd prefer the extraordinary heat of summer to the blizzard/white-outs of Colorado winters any ol' day.

That top image, is that a Duranta blossom? Pretty purple.

  2. Your photos are always a gorgeous treat, Gail. But the verdict's long been in: Hot LA temps are better than shoveling my VA driveway.

  7. Absolutely gorgeous, every one! I don't know what that critter is in the 2nd shot, but it's a great macro. The Monarch butterfly (I think that's what it is anyway) steals the show today, though.

  8. Those photos are awesome - it looks like you caught them eating the nectar. I think so anyway. I would take heat rather than a blizzard - but neither one is my favorite.

  20. You brave girl. I can't stand the heat. Staying an hour would have been the death of me. On to the subject: these are great macros. And I have almost identical shots of those little butterflies already in a post just waiting to publish. But, yours are much better than mine.

  25. Awesome shots. Those little skippers have been really busy lately.

  26. Just beautiful! A couple of days ago while at my nursery I got one of the skippers to go onto my hand. I was a little surprised as they are very skittish. They remind me of a fighter jet the way they hold their wings!
