The bird with the "golden slippers" and black beak is the Snowy Egret; yellow beak and black feet is the Great Egret. The Snowy wins the prize for most fish caught.

Splendid story telling and wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic set of photos -- so sharp and clear.
ReplyDeleteHello Gail, these are just amazing photos of the Snowy Egret. Well done, a great post. Happy Monday, have a great new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photographs of beautiful birds, Gail!
ReplyDeleteGood Monday morning, sweet Gail! Your pictures have blown me away this morning. They are so clear and vivid, my friend. And those feet look like the bird stepped in yellow paint :)
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful week. Hugs!
Gorgeous shots of the golden slippers!
ReplyDeleteStunning images of these great birds, especially capturing them with the fish in its beak.
ReplyDeleteJaw dropping shots!
ReplyDeleteYou have the best egret photos I've ever seen. But of course you hear that all the time!
ReplyDeleteVery nice series showing how "real" fishermen do it! Wish I was half as successful.
ReplyDeleteGreat quality photographs, Gail! Kudos on your patience.
Such fantastic shots of the experts. Love the golden slippers.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness these are just priceless captures, and those little yellow slippers are just adorable. What a lovely creation indeed!
ReplyDeleteThese are incredible, my friend! Last one, hands down, my favorite and just what I needed at the end of this Monday day :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous series of the competent fisherman.
ReplyDeleteWell, he just had himself a nice buffet, didn't he?
ReplyDeleteHi Gail, great captures of this incredible bird in the golden slippers. I love your turn of phrase.
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm happy if I get a (bad) picture of one egret eating one fish. You got two kinds of egrets and gosh knows how many fish and every picture is perfect. Loved this. Your patience and talent combine to create amazing posts as always.
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing images. I certainly hope all wildlife magazines know about you and your wonderful captures. Everyone deserves to see nature as you shoot it....
ReplyDeleteSuch an informative post about the egrets, the close-ups of the Snowy Egret's golden slippers are fantastic, they look like eerie rubber gloves, and the black toenails are so funny. It's great to see your captures of the fish as they are caught and swallowed, and the red insides of the egret's mouth. The Great Egret had better get on the ball to catch up.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, spectacular images!!! Those birds are wise to be so near the 'running' water where fish love to challenge themselves swimming upstream like they oftentimes do.
ReplyDeleteMy way of telling the snowy from the great egrets is a saying we had in Colorado "Don't eat yellow snow!" Hence: Yellow feet...yellow SNOW
Thanks Gail, for sharing this wonderful post by linking at I'd Rather B Birdin' this week.
Awesome action shots! I especially like the one with the fish midair between the upper and lower sides of the beak!
ReplyDeleteSuch sharp captures! Very well taken.
ReplyDeleteman gail, these are just awesome, really awesome!!! i love this bird and don't see it too often here, i like golden slippers, i always called them yellow galoshes!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou have topped yourself - again! Love your photography talent and wildlife combination.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos!
ReplyDeleteYour egret photos are amazing! Wow!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous pair they are and you captured them perfectly...:)
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing series of photos. The fish just in the air is fabulous. The yellow feet are good at clamping on to the rock. It is amazing how they can have reverse colours. I'm always learning in blogland.
ReplyDeleteAwesome shots! I never realized the Snowy Egret had yellow feet! I've learned something today!
ReplyDeleteHi Gail.....I'm trying to catch up with all my reading. I've had the blogger blues lately. As always, these are some great photos. I admire your patience in gathering such interesting pictures. The way you share a series of photos, really tells the complete story of what you were viewing.. Interesting!! Stay cool....
ReplyDeletethose are awesome shots!
ReplyDeleteYeah I Know I've been here before... Don't call the elder police yet . Just came from a different way this time and enjoyed the pictures as much the second time. Meant to tell you before I loved your title! Perfect!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh those are just amazing photos.....wow! Which is your favorite?
ReplyDeleteThey must have acidic cauldrons in those stomachs to handle all those scales and bone, huh. Love your shots.
ReplyDeleteYellow feet and black beak versus black feet and yellow beak, what a tongue twister :), it's a lovely difference. Great captures, Gail, and you were just 15 feet from them? Sounds unbelievable! :)
