Jefferson Island: The Great Egrets

Getting towards the end of what I plan to post of my SUPER FUN day at Jefferson Island's rookery. These are the great egrets, sometimes by themselves and sometimes hunting with others. They seem to be very social and graceful birds.

  20. I'm happy to report that our old egret or perhaps his cousin is back at our neighbor's pond/ swamp nearly with all this tremendous rain. I really like your last photo, it should be on a cover of a book! What a story it could hold!

  27. Wow; magnificent pictures of Egrets♡♡♡ Great Egret has a really long neck, don't they ;-) I think I can differentiate Egrets from 'Great' and 'Cattle' one p;) Sweet images of them with turtles♡♡♡

    Beautiful series on the symbol of the National Audubon Society! These are such magnificent birds.

    The Cattle Egret on the turtles is priceless!
