I got several shots of him like this, wings spread. This is probably the last one like this that I will post. |
Wait! How'd he end up in here? I think this white pelican was copying the heron's fishing moves. |

For some odd reason, when I see these photos Madonna's 'Vogue' begins playing in my head.

Oh Gail the beauty leaves me speechless. Hug B
ReplyDeleteHis neck is as long as a giraffe's!!
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning photographs! Oh my heavens, that is one long neck!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Gail, gorgeous! I knew the neck was long but didn't realize it was that long. Wow! The photo with the reflection would make a great puzzle photo.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a white pelican taking that stance before...
ReplyDeleteGreat images, as always, Gail
geweldig zoals je zijn gedrag gevold hebt .
ReplyDeleteHe does have interesting coloration!
ReplyDeleteThat is one, long neck!
ReplyDeleteTerrific shots Gail, love the reflections. He's a gorgeous bird!
ReplyDeletethe last one made me laugh! LOVE the 3rd shot with that strut and curved neck!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots! Oh how I love herons!
ReplyDeleteAll super shots, but I love that last two!
ReplyDeleteA fine series of this gorgeous bird. His many colors adds to the interest for sure. well done.
ReplyDeleteI like the long-necked sort of comedic look of the first photo.
ReplyDeleteI can't get over that long skinny neck! Add it to that long skinny bill.... one long skinny bird! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe pelican made me laugh. He was definitely a surprise. That must be a pretty big pond and/or well stocked with fish.
ReplyDeleteThe photos of Hunter are amazing. I love the way he's eyeing you in the first one. The third is also a beauty. And you never have to be afraid that we'll tire of the spread-wing shots...although maybe the other end would be preferable.
Very well framed with the reflections.
ReplyDeleteSuch an impressive wing span.
ReplyDeleteCreative and colorful nature photos for OWT !

i love the wide spread wing shot ... that is my favorite pose. you get to see all the beautiful colors. what a pretty bird. & a show off too. don't they realize they have a reflection. i bet the fish are screaming now. swimming away as fast as they can. sending alerts as they go. ha. ha!! ( :
ReplyDeleteFabulous reflections in these photos. I've never really paid much attention to water foul until seeing all of your photos....I have truly missed a lot of beauty over the years. Amazing how fascinating they can be...
ReplyDeleteY'all keep warm...we have another cool front coming.
What fun these photos are, gorgeous shots!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the good times rolled. Wish you'd track down the snowy owls while they are lost in America.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing those huge wings outstretched like that. It certainly looks like the Pelican is using the same techniques.
ReplyDeleteWoW....just WoW, these are so amazing!! And a gorgeous, gorgeous reflection!!
ReplyDeleteThe tri-colored heron is gorgeous. I also love the pelican! Wonderful captures, Gail!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting body shape. I'm trying to figure out what it reminds me of. Also a beautiful shade of yellow.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I think herons of any species look so funny when you get a straight on shot! Their eyes look strange from that angle.
ReplyDeleteYou always amaze me with new birds. Great shots.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I like the 4th one with the wonderful reflection. What a beautiful bird.
ReplyDeleteWow, her neck is long! You caught her from every angle--she's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow, was für ein langer Hals. Wie weit der Vogel seine Flügel ausspannen kann, ist erstaunlich.
