A dear blogging friend told me about the nickname "Butter Butt" for the yellow-rumped warbler and now I can't refer to them any other way. I passed this knowledge on to my husband and he continually gets it wrong, saying 'butter balls' or 'yellow butts.' I no longer correct him; I know what he means.
Photos taken mid to end of December.

Around my neck of the woods...there are 'tons' of them!! Now I will probably call them butter butts too. ;-)

ReplyDeleteI think Doubld D and Doug might have been twins separated at birth. Doug's been trying to remember what cormorants are called during our Florida vacation, and he's come up with some hysterical substitutions.
I think butter butt is a most appropriate name..what a sweet bird.
