Independence Park in Baton Rouge has been my "go-to" place this summer for flowers and insects. I know you're rolling your eyes and saying "Not another macro post!" Well, I suffered to get these shots, so I'm sharing. How did I suffer, you ask? With temperatures in the mid-90s (fahrenheit) and a "feels like" temp of 100+, let's just say it brought back nightmarish memories of summers in Texas. I went out with my camera every other day, staying about an hour at a time because one day I over-stayed and almost fainted. I'm brown as a raisin, though!
Beautiful!!! Yep, I know about those Texas summers...but, I'd prefer the extraordinary heat of summer to the blizzard/white-outs of Colorado winters any ol' day.
ReplyDeleteThat top image, is that a Duranta blossom? Pretty purple.
Your photos are always a gorgeous treat, Gail. But the verdict's long been in: Hot LA temps are better than shoveling my VA driveway.
ReplyDeleteOh Gail I am speechless you photos are stunning. Hug B
ReplyDeleteGail I am one of those oddballs that prefers winter over summer any day :) I love the beauty found in winter.
ReplyDeleteI am a Winter gal - I love the snow :) Gail, your photos are so incredible to look at! I feel like I am right there. Thank you for sharing such beauty with us. Hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteI can never get another of your macros and we appreciate your efforts to capture photos that please our eyes.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous, every one! I don't know what that critter is in the 2nd shot, but it's a great macro. The Monarch butterfly (I think that's what it is anyway) steals the show today, though.
ReplyDeleteThose photos are awesome - it looks like you caught them eating the nectar. I think so anyway. I would take heat rather than a blizzard - but neither one is my favorite.

ReplyDeleteGlad you are a quick learner and taking care of yourself!! LOVELY butterfly photos!! WOW!!
ReplyDeleteYou brave girl. I can't stand the heat. Staying an hour would have been the death of me. On to the subject: these are great macros. And I have almost identical shots of those little butterflies already in a post just waiting to publish. But, yours are much better than mine.
ReplyDeletei love the skipper shot!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous detail in those photos Gail. The extra light did the trick there and I'm glad you didn't faint
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you suffered in the heat to get these but the payoff is definitely worth it.....They are awesome...The details just blow my mind.....Girl, you are good....
ReplyDeleteThanks for suffering so I could see these pictures. :)
ReplyDeleteI prefer the hot weather over cold any day. Lovely images, Gail!
ReplyDeleteAwesome shots. Those little skippers have been really busy lately.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! A couple of days ago while at my nursery I got one of the skippers to go onto my hand. I was a little surprised as they are very skittish. They remind me of a fighter jet the way they hold their wings!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous captures Gail, you really do macro so well! Maybe autumn will be kinder but then, there usually aren't as many insects and flowers around then either.
ReplyDeleteSuch spectacular pictures Gail ! You captured nature at its finest :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful...I would never ever tire of your macros.
