Chickadees are the boldest birds. I was probably 6-8 feet away from this little dude at Bluebonnet Swamp. Where else? :) 2/8/13 |

Another bold bird. This vociferous mockingbird was creating quite a scene at Capitol Lakes, 2/13/13. |

My birding friends were generous enough to point out this tiny tree frog holding on to a red buckeye tree. 2/8/13 |
|
I was quite enamored with him. |

Great Egret marching at Bluebonnet Swamp, 2/14/13. |

ReplyDeleteBeautiful Eagle!! Awesome egret - appears to be walking through something sticky, and ALL your bird photos are lovely!! You continue to amaze me as to how you get your shots!
ReplyDeleteAll such beautiful images, Gail. That eagle is amazing and I always love seeing the mockingbirds. The heart-warmer for me in this grouping is that sweet little tree frog.
ReplyDeletewow. seriously, just a huge WOW. i love your birds and obviously they love you !!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm jealous of your brown thrasher! I lost all the photos I took of a brown thrasher last spring. It's on my wish list for this year.
ReplyDeleteOOOoooh, I love THAT Eagle!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo you liked all of the sweaters but the yellow one, right? It is so fun. Many love that one or they make negative inflections toward it. I love it! It is a bit too big but I love the thought behind it, it's courage, if you will? hahahahaha.
I am very new to birding and am amazed at these pics. Absolutely stunning, especially the first pic.
ReplyDeleteHi Gail. The only time that the process of ringing may harm a bird is when the bird is caught and handled, however, there are strict codes of practise governing this aspect of ringing. The majority of countries require 'ringers' to undergo rigorous training before being allowed to catch and ring birds alone. Ringers in Britain typically train for two years and must have handled a wide range of bird species before being granted a ringing permit. If turned gently, a bird in the hand will often just lie on its backs for a second or two before turning upright and flying off. Mine is the hand and I can assure you no birds were or are harmed by me.
ReplyDeleteYou got some stunning pics there - the chickadeedee, the frog. the kestrel and of course the phoebe.
How beautiful these are, Gail.
ReplyDeleteThat little Eastern Phoebe is just ADORABLE!!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
So many great shots! Love the tree frog. So cute. They are hard to find.
ReplyDeleteAll of the shots are stunning, but I especially like the Chickadee :) Thanks for sharing, sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Stephanie
Good golly, Gail. How's a girl supposed to pick out one or two of these to comment on? They're all gorgeous. I'm so jealous of the eagle. Stunning shots of the mockingbird, chickadee, thrasher, phoebe, kestrel, and tree frog. Did I forget any? If you're thinking I forgot the egret...I didn't. What a wonderful shot of that beautiful bird.
ReplyDeleteThe question I have is,'are you a professional photographer?' The pictures have stunning quality.

ReplyDeletemy breath was taken away by the majesty of the eagle! this bird is just spectacular! it has such pride in it's stance,in the awesomeness of it's flight.
Wow Gail. These are all winners. The mama eagle looks a bit scruffy, kinda like me when I had 3 little ones to keep track of. No time to look in the mirror!
ReplyDeleteThat little green frog: ohhhhhh! sweet.
These are all fabulous! That little frog is precious and what a great capture of that family!!
ReplyDeleteI admire your skill and your lens.
ReplyDeleteintéressante faune
ReplyDeleteAll great! Love that little frog.
ReplyDeleteGolly, it's been ages since I flew a kite...in fact it's been ages since I've seen ANYONE with a kite. Great image. Wonder what's on the kids' minds as they traipse along the levee.
ReplyDeleteEaster Phoebes are a favorite of mine. And that tree frog...cool. All the beautiful birds!!! My sister would LOVE the photo of the eagle...they call their property in Colorado the Eagles' Nest
Wow - another set of amazingly gorgeous shots!
ReplyDeleteFabulous shots Gail! That frog is hansome! The squirrel on my blog is a "black" squirrel. A mutation of the eastern greys. They are said to be fairly rare, but we have 15 or more that visit our yard.
ReplyDeleteThese are all fantastic, Gail, but I am most jealous of the eagle! I would love to see eagles like that! I can only dream, though. A great collection of birds!
ReplyDeleteLove, love love them all! That Eagle is an awesome capture! Have a glorious weekend my friend. Big hugs, xoxo
ReplyDeleteGail your shots are all so amazing. I would love to capture a Brown Thrasher. Have a great weekend. Be happy :)
ReplyDeleteThat little frog is so cute! I'd love to be able to see an eagle close enough to photograph it. You should think about putting together photo expeditions and charge photographers to take them on tours of all these beautiful places in your area.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots! I haven't seen a Brown Thrasher here for a couple of years.
ReplyDeleteMarvelous collection ! I can just about hear the mockingbird singing. You do have the best birds ever. Thanks!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to know your tips on how you get such great images of the tiny birds.. they won't stay still long enough for me..err.. All these photo images are fantasticO!!!
