Oodles

The past three days I was in Mississippi staying with my dad while my stepmom is out of town. We had a great time together, spending Tuesday at a beautiful hunting lodge and Wednesday at a civil war cemetery. During this time, I photographed a variety of deer, flowers, civil war artifacts (from my dad's collection), and gravestones. But out of 461 photos, my favorite set was of Oodles, their half bichon, half maltese (I think) mix. Oodles rules the roost. She growls when it's bedtime, barks when she needs to go out, barks when she's hungry, and is fed by hand—by my otherwise tough dad—out of a crystal bowl. I never got treated so royally when I was a youngster. Well, she is too cute to resist, I must admit.

The moods of Oodles:

Hungry
Inquisitive
Alert
Bored
Concerned
Happy
Annoyed
Diva
I'll be around later to catch up with everyone! Hope I didn't miss too much while I was away.

  3. She is ADORABLE and you captured her moods quite well! There are some dogs whose faces will show their emotions/moods....Chewy is one of them, I can always tell what mood he is in or emotion he is experiencing just by his face, whereas Lilibell...her face is a closed book to me, you can never tell what's going on behind that cute face of her's!

  17. Oh, she's a doll. It's funny how our fathers mellow with age. So glad you were able to spend time with him. Hold tightly to those moments and enjoy going through your pics. Have a great weekend.

  18. Crystal bowl? I love that I don't even sense any real sibling rivalry. But I agree, she's too cute to resist! What a fun time it sounds like you had with your dad!

  20. Ok...I admit that the spoiled pooch at home barks annoyingly so that someone will take him out to play. And bangs the blinds on the back door to be let out.
BUT...he does NOT get hand fed out of a crystal bowl!! hehe!!

I love how you captured all the different expressions!

  21. This post reminds me of my Expressions of a 10 lb pup post that I recently did. Oodles looks like she is just oodles of fun!!! Beautiful little pup and definitely an awesome breed mix. I have more of Gracie (oddly enough, similar to these) I just haven't posted them yet. So glad to see you back in the blog world and glad you had fun in Ole' Miss! Much love & hugs, Mitzi

  23. I'm not much of a dog person, but even I can see the appeal of that little face!

The parrots are rather wonderful - you can imagine what it was like when I saw them for the first time!

  24. My dad and mom had a shitsu named Fergie -- she ruled the roost as well. What a cute companion for your dad. :)

  25. My husband and daughter comment at times that I love the dogs more than them....hmmmmm...I wonder why....could it be dogs can't talk???? ;)....I always clarify and tell them they are only attached to me because I feed them...the dogs...not my family...they can fend for themselves ;)...I love the clarity in your photos!!! Did you take these with that macro thingie you purchased a while back? I have that on my 'wish' list.
