On my next post I promise to deliver something different. We have been invited to a tailgate party this Saturday for the LSU vs Idaho game. I've been told there are great danes painted to look like Mike the Tiger, as well as people painted in all manner of purple and gold. I guess if we can put up with the crazy fools on Bourbon Street, we can put up with a few thousand LSU fanatics. I am taking my camera and hope the drunks don't throw up on it.
But for now, you're stuck with my images from yet another visit to Hilltop Arboretum.
But for now, you're stuck with my images from yet another visit to Hilltop Arboretum.
Not a macro, but I chose it for the leaf changing color (hurry up fall!) and that baseball-looking bokeh in the distance. |
Painted lady |
Graceful curvature of the wings |
Some type of pondhawk - a new one for me! |
The Roseate Skimmer that I thought was so beautiful from a previous visit. God apparently decided to make up for its less-than-attractive face by clothing it in a gorgeous shade of mauve. |
Starbush |
Last of the American Beautyberries |
These pictures are gorgeous. But I'm really excited now for your next post!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful details. Nice upclose shots. My sister went to grad school at LSU. I'd suggest wrapping your camera in saran wrap to be on the safe side. Worst case you get beer dumped on it.
ReplyDelete*sigh* just suffering through another load of gail's photos... yeah, right! :)
ReplyDeleteThese are just awful! I can't believe I had to look through all these crappy photos! Sheesh. :-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots and the variety of colors is awesome! Love the close up detail! But apparently you have some "good stuff" stashed away for future use. LOL!
Am so glad you stuck us with these. The butterfly with a nose ring is interesting.
ReplyDeleteI bet there will be lots of stories to be told from the tailgate party. Can't wait to see them!
Never simply stuck with your images, Gail.
ReplyDeleteIt is always such a pleasure to visit you here, and your macros are amazing!
you do macro brilliantly !!!
ReplyDeletei love these photos !!
xo
There are gorgeous Gail! Love those dragonflies!
ReplyDeleteWell, you can stick me with more photos of Hilltop Arboretum anytime.
ReplyDeleteYour photos of this place are fascinating.
All the creatures look like aliens!
Love it.
Oh darn, stuck again with these awful..ly great photos. Beautiful captures of God's gorgeous work. Oh boy, bet that LSU game was something to see.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots, Gail!
ReplyDeleteYour macros are just stunning, and you never need to apologize for them. Or for hummingbirds. Or for anything else you decide to photograph. By the way, how's the real estate photography going?
ReplyDeleteI love being 'stuck' with your beautiful photos ;)......I can't wait to find a beauty berry bush...although I see them all over our state they are hard to find in the nurseries. Have fun at the game and take lots of photos of the tailgaters! Can't wait to see them.
ReplyDeleteThe pondhawk images are fabulous in detail, Gail! Of course, all of these macros are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOmigosh: AHHH-MAZING pictures. I'll go with you to the arboretum any old day.
ReplyDeleteI really hope they do have great danes painted like tigers; please photograph that. I don't care how bad this is making me sound.
I'll "put up" with your crazy people pictures on your next post, but I can bet right now that I'll like this one better -- (not a football fan, but I do like crazy people ;>)!)....anyway your pictures from the Arboretum are wonderful and I would sure love to visit it. The bees and butterflies are really enjoying themselves.
ReplyDeleteHave fun this weekend!
your gift of capture creates magic.
ReplyDeleteLove your dragonfly pics. Your beautyberries here are called English mulberries! I like beautyberries much better!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos to be stuck with! Loved them all! Can't wait to see your new ones though! Just amazing Gail and I hope no one throws up on anything never mind your camera!
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing my friend. I will never get tired of looking at your wonderful nature shots..
ReplyDeleteHugs~
You must have such patience to sit and capture these flighted creatures!
ReplyDeleteSome really super shots there Gail, especially the one showing the curvature and pattern of the Painted Lady's wings. The Starbush and Beautyberries are fine too the way you isolated the subject. Now we don't have tailgate parties,Mike the Tiger or LSU over here so I can't wait to see your next pictures.
ReplyDeleteThe green dragonfly is amazing! Your second butterfly shot is a beauty too. Nice to have somewhere to visit with lovely flowers and incests.
ReplyDeleteLove the dragonflies with their aviator glasses. :)

ReplyDeleteWow wow wow! Each shot is perfection and pure magic.
ReplyDeleteSo many winged beauties amongst these, impossible to state which I like best.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful macros, and I hope the game was great too :)
ReplyDeleteI love the starbush and the dragonflies. Have fun at the game...and like everyone else said, I'll never get tired of them either. Keep em coming!
ReplyDeleteGail, these are gorgeous! I look forward to your LSU photos, but I could look at these all day, too. Our Beautyberries actually appeared this year, but I think my photos got lost in the masses somewhere. Thanks for reminding me about them!
ReplyDeleteAnother luscious collection. Beauty all around.
ReplyDeleteYour dragonfly/skimmer photos are remarkable, Gail! You're great at catching the detail and light on the wings. Have a wonderful Sunday. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat else can I say but WOW!! Please know that you impress me every time :)
