It finally quit raining enough for some photography. This tiny arachnid hovered over my Mexican heather in the center of the beautiful concentric web he had woven. It took me two days to get a decent photo because the wind presented such a challenge. Wind and macro photography do not play nice. Also, he remained upside down, so I never got the chance to see him from the top. At least I think he's upside down.
wow! he or she is a gorgeous thing!!! like a squash crossed with pumpkin! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fiery Australian opal. Beautiful capture!! How close were you? Spiders just give me the willies and I can’t get too close.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful spider! So fascinating to watch them weave.
ReplyDeleteAll those bright colors sometimes means danger in nature. You are brave to venture so close. Although he does look sort of like a Faberge Easter egg!
ReplyDeleteAwesome shots, Gail! Love the detail and sharpness! I've never seen a spider like that.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh he is just beautiful! We'd never see that without your great macro photography, I'm so impressed with it! thanks.
ReplyDeleteWow, that spider really has some showy colors! Great shots.
ReplyDeleteI don´t know what to say...I think it is an absolutely beautiful creature but I don´t want it in my house:)that is for sure...but omg what shots you captured,,,,fabulous work!!
ReplyDeleteOh my what big eyes you have!
ReplyDeleteHe would be very proud of his portrait.
Amazing! How do you get these shots!?
ReplyDeleteAnd how do you know the name of this spider. You are really something! :o)

ReplyDeleteAwesome details! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteIf you get a chance, come over to my blog and say hello!

WOW! Your macro shots of this spider look great.. Yep, I am smiling..
ReplyDeletespectacular!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty colors...but it's still a spider! Get back!
ReplyDeleteOh wonderful, I love the colors of that little spider. Glad it stopped blowing long enough for you to get these terrific shots!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing Gail!! His coloring pops out! I always thought spiders were black or grey - not with these beautiful markings! You did notice that almost red marking on his belly --- you be careful!!
ReplyDeleteHis face though and he even has hairs!!!
Omigosh!!! The spider looks like a creature from a fantasy....a brightly-colored fantasy! Fabulous images, Gail.
ReplyDeleteYou have met one of my favorites, but I have not seen one with such a beautiful colour.
ReplyDeletehe is stunning. he is scary.
ReplyDeleteWow // fabulous shots! Well done.
ReplyDeleteHi there - spiders have such weird and wonderful forms. Even if they set my teeth a little on edge, I can’t help but look!
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M
Not a big spider fan Gail but you have managed to make this one look quite beautiful! Only spiders I have ever seen are either black or brown and squished under my foot if they get to close!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and interesting colors!
Wow what a colourful spider!
ReplyDeleteAmazing photography. The patterns are so beautiful. But the dark colors suggest that it might be poisonous!
ReplyDeleteWish you a wonderful week ahead:)
That is one beautiful creature. I've never seen one with all that color. Great post!
ReplyDeletehe's doing stunts!!
ReplyDeletehe's beautiful, great shots
What a cool, vibrant spider! Your macro photography is awe-inspiring.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are really stunning with that macro lens you bought. My main camera is a Nikon D40 with just a lens – it says Nikon 18-55 mm on it – so I don’t know if I could place a lens like this on it but I wish I could as it does not take good close-up shots. You post some superb pictures – they look like the kinds you see in magazines – bravo!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome shot! Incredible!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very colourful spider! You have managed some fantastic photos of it Gail.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Never seen a spider like this!
ReplyDeleteAmazing colours and just super shots. Who could be scared of those little beauties?
ReplyDeleteGreat spider in all his finery. Maybe he thinks the bugs will be attracted to him. xo Jenny
ReplyDeleteLovely lady. It's beautiful. Well captured.
