Hanging On

I deeply appreciate the care and concern on my last post. I am also thankful for the caring emails and it is killing me that I'm unable to respond to them. I've been stuck at the hospital with only my iPhone for internet. My eyes aren't that great so I was hoping soon to go home and update you and hopefully give good news.

Unfortunately, that is not the case.

Yesterday I made the horrendously difficult decision to remove my mother's life support. The dr. thought she'd be gone in a few hours, but here we are 16 hours later and she is still hanging on.

I've been blessed with the support of family and friends throughout this ordeal. We are in a Catholic hospital so my mother has had lots of annointings, prayers, and rosaries said for her. She loves this faith and so this has been a great comfort.

Thank you all deeply for caring and I will touch base with each one of you very soon. God bless.

  1. Bless her heart, bless your heart. You both remain in my thoughts and prayers. Catholic hospitals are wonderful. I love the liturgy of the Catholic religion.

  9. I'm so sorry but it is how life goes. My grandmother is almost in the same situation and the whole family just wishes she will go fast. This sounds little harsh but we must be realistic and think what is best for them not for us.
I hope all the straight to you.
    Love and hugs

  14. Oh Gail, my dear, dear friend. I am SO sorry for what you are going through.

I've been there myself, with my own Mom, the hospital, the whole bit. PLEASE email me ANY TIME you want. Any time at all. It helps to have somebody who has been there, I think.

Strength and love to you and yours.

  17. Gail,
this is such a sad time for you. I am so sorry. But I am also glad that you moved there to be with her in her most needful time. And maybe this will reconnect you to the Catholic Church where you began.

    Hugs,

    ♥charlotte
