Let's Geaux!

My mother was having a lot of trouble getting around today so I helped her dress and bathe this morning. After that I looked online for some recipes to try, then made a quick dash to the grocery store. While dinner was simmering I went out and got these photos. Every few feet I breathed in the strongest scent of roses, yet when I looked around there wasn't a rose bush in sight! I came home and told my mom and she said the Blessed Mother must've been with me. I don't know about that, but it really was weird!

Azaleas are still in bloom!
ID help needed - anyone know what kind of bird this is?
UPDATE: Eastern Phoebe
Thanks, TexWisGirl!!

When I returned from my photography session, mama was eager to get ready for the LSU vs Bama game. She already had on her LSU shirt, so I found her LSU socks and the LSU slippers my daughter sent her for Christmas. She is convinced LSU is going to win the game because of these magic slippers. I'm going to have one depressed little lady on my hands if they don't win. :/

  1. oh my! you just brought back a flood of memories from my Catholic childhood - yes, my mother would have said the blessed mother was there, too!

i think that bird is an Eastern Phoebe.

  2. Oh, I'm rooting for LSU, too...but I'm concerned in the early moments.

Wish I could find subjects like yours on a short walk from MY house!

    (Again...I'm so glad you're back!)

  3. Those azaleas are beautiful. I just learned this year that there are fall-blooming azaleas. The ones around here aren't as pretty as the ones that bloom in spring but who cares! There's not a lot of flowers that bloom in the late fall and winter so I'll take what I can get!

  4. Wonderful to see your photos again Gail, each one is great. Especially love the nature shots, although the other two complete the photo story. Sounds like you are part of an adventure at the moment.

Too bad your mom was disappointed with the game. I didn't watch it but many of my FB friends/family were watching and commenting.

  18. Gail,
You never said what you were making for dinner. LOL I always love to hear about recipes and what people eat.
The Blessed Mother was near you...that is always a sign. You are very privileged.
Love you photos as always...couldn't identify the bird or mushroom though. Love your MOm's socks. Glad you are there to help her.

  19. Pretty photos. I *think* the bird is a flycatcher of some sort or a phoebe. I hope your mom's team wins. It's nice of you to be there to help her out.
