Where do you think I hung him? After a lot of agonizing over how this would work with my traditional, old world style furnishings, I settled on a prominent wall in the living room. I decided that I was truly proud of it, my dad was proud enough of me to go the expense to have it preserved, and besides, it would make a great conversation piece! I've seen professional decorators on TV throw in a wild, out-in-left-field decor item that doesn't match anything in the house (anyone see the hot pink deer head?) and it works. At least I think it works. What do you think?

Hi Gail
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great fish.
What a beak this fish, so big.
He is very nice in the room, nice trophy.
Billy is just so fitting where you put him!!! How sweet. What a wonderful gesture of your father to have him mounted...and a wonderful gesture on your part to be so proud of both!!!!
ReplyDeleteBill is beautiful, just the right amount of whimsy for any living room!
ReplyDeleteWhere did my y go? It's Billy!
ReplyDeleteHow fun, and what a wonderful gift! He would fit in anywhere if you ask me, especially where ever he could be seen by all, and you everyday! A great spot indeed! You'll surely get loads of comments from folks visiting! Very impressive.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty (and what a catch)! Quite a good-looking fish, and the taxidermist did a great job!
ReplyDeleteThat looks great Gail. A really special gift from your Dad :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is a thoughtful gift from your dad and it looks great on your wall. My sister and her husband are devoted bass fishers, with a bass boat and a trailer on a bass lake. Your house reflects you and that's as it should be.
ReplyDeletei like it! fish are very specialized to preserve and it looks like that taxidermist did a fine job with billy!
ReplyDeleteGreat catch, it looks great mounted! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHe looks great and I'd be proud of him too.
ReplyDeleteBut just have to be naughty and ask if he sings that river song (not that anyone I know ever bought one of those Billy Bass things when they were such a fad. Oh no .. LOL).
You've created a beautiful series of the shots, the background looks interesting and surprising behind the fish. I think that you've chosen a great place in the living room, I really like it, now you can look forward to the conversations that will follow for sure! :)
ReplyDeleteThe dorsal fin looks pretty sharp...
Love how you mounted your catch and also your photographs!
ReplyDeleteIt works just fine. I'm glad that you and your dad are such a good team.. fishing together.. you preserving with photos and he with taxidermy.

ReplyDeleteGreat fun to catch a bass. I'd say he looks good, except I think I would have liked to see him when you caught him. And the look on your face. Nice you can share this with your dad.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful trophy fish.
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice catch! So very wonderful that your dad did that for you, and that is the perfect spot! :)
ReplyDeleteYou picked the perfect spot for this special fish to be.
ReplyDeleteA great bass! That's the kind tourney anglers love to catch. Really nice taxidermy job! At least your Billy Bass doesn't sing - I hate those stupid things! :-)
ReplyDeleteHe's very handsome! I think you picked a really great display spot.
ReplyDeleteA bass like that goes with anything! Cool memento of time with your dad, too.
