Chance Update:
Chance is back home after being hospitalized for possible Vestibular Disease. His progress is slow, but we're hoping for continued improvement in the coming days and weeks. The doctor explained that he will have a permanent head tilt which we can accept. However, he is not the same happy dog following me from room to room. He sleeps most of the time because I suspect it's too stressful for him to get around. Even trying to stand up from a lying position is difficult and he becomes very shaky. Yesterday he tried to turn around too quickly and fell completely over. Scared him AND me to death! But he has begun to eat and drink a little, which is encouraging.
Due to my limited time with Chance and working from home next week, I will be taking a short blog break. Probably just a week, maybe a little longer. Thank you as always for your kind comments and visits. It is truly appreciated! I'll miss you guys, but will see y'all soon!!!
That cypress tree is absolutely amazing. Those are one of my favorite trees. They're majestic. I hope Chance feels better soon! My thoughts are with him. We'll see you when you get back :)

Never heard about this part of my property!
I just checked its location on Google Maps - ok - it's in Louisiana, close to New Orleans. Maybe there were some German settlers 200 years ago who took up residence near this lake. Or do you have any idea where the name comes from?

So glad Chance is home, even if you're both adapting to what that means. That pink stuff looks like eggs - I wonder whose?! Love those pier gardens! As always, your photographic "tours" are fascinating, Gail. Like many others, I think those are eggs of some kind, but what in the world? If they were under water, they might look more normal. Strange! Glad your Chance is improving somewhat.

Your pink masses are eggs from an invasive Apple Snail. I think Louisiana started seeing them 4-5 years ago and there is a concern they might adversely affect rice crops.

Well, I say the same thing each time...your photos are beautiful. When we were kayaking in the everglades, the guide destroyed the apple snail eggs...possibly invasive? I too thought they were some sort of fungus. I hope your pup can adapt to his disability. Such wonderful companions!

Your snail eggs brought back memories from being a St. Johns River Rat in central Fla. I like your pink eggs - our's were white - probably a different kind of snail!!
