Sunset at Lake Martin

Greetings from Cajun Country! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Double D and I spent most of the day yesterday at Avery Island and Lake Martin. The highlights at Avery Island were a swallowtail kite, nesting great egrets, alligators, azaleas, and wisteria. At Lake Martin we saw more nesting egrets, roseate spoonbills, black-bellied whistling ducks, ibises, and more. We timed the trip so we could see the sunset at Lake Martin. Although the water was choppy from all the boating activity and wind, it did not disappoint. Can't wait to show you the rest of my photos. It was the most awesome day ever! Y'all have a great week!
Swamp tour boat is in the distance.

This was taken about 50 frames before the sun started to set.

Thank you Madge for hosting!

  4. We went to those places when we were in your beautiful state. About this time of the year too. The birds were amazing and so were the scenery and the people (and the food)! We LOVED the area!

I hope we get to come back someday. Meantime thank you for the memories and your beautiful pix, I look forward to more!

  17. Ohhh my Gail!!
Your sunset is rich in color!! Love seeing your cypress trees- makes me think of Cypress Gardens in Florida years ago! My Louisiana family flew home today. Niece flew back to BR/LSU and my sister and her other daughter back to ShreevePort! Instead of flying over to visit her- I need to drive very slowly out to her place.

It may be just my screen - but what are the two pale circles on the middle LHS of the second picture?

  30. Stewart, thank you for catching that! I think my eyes were glazed over with 500+ photos to slog through. I was trying to lighten the trees a bit with a circular brush in PS--apparently a very large brush. It has now been fixed.

Thanks so much to everyone for the kind comments! I really appreciate it. :)
