Motley Crew

Greetings everyone! It's been a mushy, wet week here in Baton Rouge. The incessant rain coupled with a very bad cold has got me feeling pretty run down. I was so thankful to have my ipad (thanks, Dad & Darleen!) so I could keep up with your blogs on the couch or bed. The dogs sure have enjoyed all the snuggle time. Since I can't get out with my camera I went through some photos that I had not yet developed. Hope you enjoy and that you all are untouched by this terrible flu season.
Look who's back! It was so nice to see Pierre on Christmas Eve.

Should I bring the hummingbird feeders in for the winter? There seems to be a disagreement on the web.

    Oh, poor Gail. I'm so sorry you're sick and hope you'll soon be well. So glad to see Pierre. He seems well. Great shots of the coot and the wild-eyed pigeon, who seems to be aptly named. The Anhinga is unbelievably beautiful. I've never even heard of it before. Love the Snowy Egret shots. Why can't I look that confident when my hair looks that way?

    good golly, lots of good stuff to comment on in this post. sheesh! if you've got hummers coming, i'd leave the feeders up. i'm thinking they're too late to migrate, so might as well feed 'em.

    love the bokeh in the anhinga shot! happy little 'flying' turtle made me laugh! the coot shot is GORGEOUS! the pidge looks psycho! :)

    i'm really sorry you're sick, but i hope you're on the upswing!!!

    Oh no...I hope you are not one of the zillions that have that horrible flu. Just rest and maybe it will be gone in the morning. Those hummers are sticking around and as Tex said, you might as well feed them. Love all those shots, you really have a beautiful way of capturing the birds in your area. All so lovely!!

    Oh my goodness girly. So many wonderful shots here. I have had some finches hanging around my feeder. I just love the red color. I just love the shot of your White Pelican. All the feathers all puffed up looks so cool.. I do hope you feel better soon.

    The flu is running rampant here - I think I've already had it twice, even with the flu shot! Love all of your photos, especially the LSU Lakes foggy shot. Feel better soon!

    I say leave the feeders up. They're smarter than we are about when they should leave or stay. Ours are still up but the hummers are long gone.

    Morning, Gail. Hope you are better today. Hey, Pierre! I took my feeders away and have not seen any hummers for at least six weeks. Now the weather has turned warmer again. This morning was a gorgeous red sky so storms may be back. Good Sunday morning.

    Wow, wow, wow - stunning photos, each one!

    I'm so sorry you have been ill and hope you are fully well again this week.

    As for the hummer feeders, we do leave ours out all year. Our winters are mild enough that the hummers never leave so we are very conscientious about maintaining the feeders. This week it has been below freezing so I bring the feeders in before I go to bed and D puts them out again before dawn. As soon as the first light comes, there are the hummers!

    Really great shots!

    I love the front view of the hummingbird at the feeder and the turtle stretching its leg, the hairdo of the Snowy Egret, so many beautiful photos!

    How did I miss this post?? (I am terrible about keeping up with my blog friends!) What amazing images of these birds, and the lake and trees, and the turtle...... Some days, I feel like that wonderful egret looks! ;-) And I am in awe of a hummingbird's visit on Christmas Eve.

    Feel better, my friend!! The flu bug is a nasty one...it slammed our entire household and there are a few lingering coughs still hanging around, but life is returning to normal.

    Sorry you're under the weather, Gail, and hope you're well soonest. You're wise to flop on the sofa and take it easy.

    Pierre is as handsome as ever! You're right, the coot's colors are a gorgeous blend of neutrals. But the little red finch looks like it's sugar-coated -- Gorgeous!

    Hmm, maybe you could leave the feeder out. I take mine in because we get snow -- rather, used to. Our water table is six inches too low. The other day the birds were chirping up a storm. My tulips want to pop!
