Gulf Fritillary

My week without Double D hasn't gone exactly as planned. It rained for two days when it was supposed to be pleasant and sunshine-y AND I got burgundy highlights in my hair that went awry. We'll see what Double D's reaction is on his return. :/ Yesterday I managed to wiggle my way into a two-hour window of sunshine and got these bright orange fritillaries before another big deluge came. Although the weather has returned to higher temps than I'd like, I'm thankful that the rain has ended. Next week we're supposed to have more fall-like weather. Experimenting with Shadowhouse's shadow box frame.

Just thought I'd throw this grass photo in.

  6. What lovely images you have captured! I attempted to capture one of those flying around my yard...the little buggers are fast and don't really allow you to get close to them, unlike the larger monarch butterfly. Thanks for sharing. Wishing you a beautiful Thursday. xoxo, Mitzi

We had so much rain over the weekend, but I am very thankful for every drop that fell. I had several things that I wanted to take pictures of, but it was way too wet.
The colors on the butterflies sure makes me ready for FALL...they are stunning.

  19. My guess is Double D won't even notice your hair. I'm not sure which is worse, actually...his not noticing or his hating it. :)

The butterfly photos are just wonderful. Even grass is beautiful through your lens.

  23. I seen more butterflies in the last week than in the last three months! I think I need to take some pictures.

I think grass is under rated subject - so this is a great post for me!

  30. Once again I'm so impressed with your close up photos, Gail! Wonderful details which stand out so well against the contrasting backgrounds.

(And I have to agree with your thoughts on zoos. I think perhaps for kids they are educational but as an adult, I find them strange and cruel, no matter how well the animals are treated.)

    Wishing you a great weekend.
